Construction Progress
August 20 - After a full week of seeing patients, we finally get a sign up that people can see we are now open. A more permanent sign is coming soon. Look for our grand opening / open house sometime in the next several weeks. We look forward to seeing you soon. Thanks for watching us grow!
August 16 - Fencing for our large play area out back starts going up. Just in time for our first boarding dog this weekend.
August 14 - Major construction is now completed! While it will take several months to get our hospital fully set up and running smoothly, we are now open and able to care for patients. Surgical and dental care areas are not up and running as yet, but should be ready soon. Although we are still getting things set up and organized, feel free to stop by and tour our facility anytime during regular office hours.
August 13 - Construction is wrapping up, city inspections are passed and we can finally start moving in!
July 27 - Front landscaping work continues as rock retaining walls goes up around trees in front, trees are trimmed, and sprinkler system, soil and gravel paths are laid down.
July 22 - Treatment room nears completion as lights, cabinets, counter tops, paint, and ceiling tiles are finished.
June 25 - The receptionist area gets cabinets and a paint job.
July 6 - Wow! The tile work and counter tops look great in the reception area.
June 29 - Front sidewalks are laid and landscaping work begins.
June 25 - The treatment room begins to take shape as painting is done and cabinets are set in place.
June 13 - Water quality pond is complete except for some fill and landscaping.

June 8 - Taping and floating is finished. This is the treatment room ready for cabinets.
June 7 - Sheetock is completed and taping, floating begins in the waiting room area.
June 4 - Work continues on the water quality pond on the north side of the property.
May 30 - Now that the parking lot is complete, interior work can resume. Time for sheetrock, taping, and floating.
May 30 - Parking lot is in just before the rains came.
May 5 - Curb work is finished!
May 3 - Curbs outlining drive through lane take shape. Curbs for front parking lot are in place.
April 28 - Uh oh....the fire marshal pays us a visit and stops all interior work on the building until the parking lot is finished. This will slow things down a bit, but there are plenty of outside things to do to keep us busy.
April 28 - Forms are set up in preparation for curbing the parking lot.
April 24 - Insulation is in place and sheet rock is delivered. Concrete floor is stained and covered to protect from damage while the rest of the interior work is done.
April 24 - Once the roof is finished, we don't have to worry about these pesky spring showers slowing down work on the interior any longer.
April 22 - Once painting is completed, roof shingles can be placed. Everything is ready for the final driveway and parking lot work...
April 22 - Storms have passed and we can start painting.
April 19 - Roof shingles are delivered as stucco is being applied to the tower.
April 14 - Stone columns on front porch are in progress as scaffolding is put in place for stucco work on tower.

April 12 - Stone for the exterior arrives as telephone, computer, and security wiring are being completed inside.

April 8 - Glass block windows to kennels are in as siding work continues.
March 31 - View from the rear of the building shows the siding going up on the north side. Full length window on this side of building is to the cat room - far away from the barking dogs.
March 31 - Walls of the kennels are solid and high enough so neighboring dogs will not be able to pass germs back and forth.

March 23 - This is looking in to the ward area for hospitalized pets. Large windows and a glass door will allow close observation of this area.
March 23 - The exterior of the building continues to take shape. The porch at the front can be seen and the drive through area on the left (south) side of the building is progressing.
March 20 - This is looking from the waiting room in to the reception area. The exterior opening to the left will be the drive through window for picking up prescriptions.

March 15 - It's time to start framing.
March 3 - Construction of the front driveway has started with the drain pipes in place. We even have our address up! This view is looking south on Parmer Lane to the left, and the hospital will be to the right. Clients will have two ways to access the building - Parmer from the front and Denali from the back.
March 3 - The concrete came at 4 AM, and by 9 AM the finishing touches were being put on the slab. This is looking across the front porch area.
February 17 - The plumbing is roughed in as work continues on the pad site. This view is from the rear of the building site.
February 17 - Lumber arrives! Now all we need is a slab to build on.

December 26 - The day after Christmas, the job site is quiet, but the pad outlining the building site is in place.

December 23 - After the lot is cleared and leveled, work begins on the pad site for the foundation. This is a view looking from behind the building site across what will be the rear driveway to our drive through window.
December 2005 - Finally! Thanks to the help of Tom & Kathy at Frost Bank, Jennie Braasch at Pohl, Brown, Wayne at Barnes Construction, architect Patrick Roeder, Tim at Corridor Engineering, and Denise at Mercury Permits, all requirements have been met and we can begin clearing the lot. Note the power lines in front of the property that have been put in along with underground utilities.
February 2004 - Initial contract is signed to purchase the property. The next six months is spent on feasibility studies involving financing, zoning, road access, and preliminary city approvals. Final purchase of the property is in September 2004 and we are able to put up the sign seen above. It takes another 16 months for finalizing construction loans and architectural and structural plans, getting city and state site plans drawn up and approved, and waiting for final Cedar Park city permits to be granted. We are finally ready to start work on the lot in late December.
